Step off the plane in the comfortably small International Airport of Ixtapa Zihuatanejo. Jump in a taxi, or the airport-La Barra combie and wind through a coconut plantation to the beach. Then follow the beach past more coconut plantations and lagoons to the end of the road - 15-20 minutes in all to La Barra de Potosi. You'll see Guamiluli, the strikingly beautiful hill at the end of Potosi Bay where legend has it that pirates have hidden treasure in a cave within. The fishing village called La Barra de Potosi is nestled in the corner made by the lagoon and the curve of the bay. You can't miss us. You'll find it hard to leave.
Click on the photos to enlarge them and you will see the area well. Along the curve at the entrance to the lagoon at the sea are about 15 enramada restaurants serving fresh seafood. The village is the tiny cluster of light colored dwellings in the area between the lagoon and the ocean.
Casa del Encanto Beach Enramada is located just to the left of the taller white structure along the beach. The Village House and Children's library are located among the light spots in the village near the lagoon.
The hike up to the top of the hill Guamilule takes about an hour or so. 5-15 or 20 minutes of walking along the beach and through the village can get you all around to and from about any of the restaurants, B&B's, and other accomodations, horseback riding and canoe rentals etc.
